Newlyn sits on Mount’s Bay just south of Penzance and remains Cornwall’s largest fishing port, its quays still landing catch each morning. In the 1880s it drew a colony of painters — Stanhope Forbes among them — who came for the light, and the Newlyn Art Gallery keeps that thread going. The Tolcarne Inn is down by the harbour. Penzance station is about 2km up the bay.
