The Stag Inn sits on the tree-lined green at Dufton, a welcome sight for Pennine Way walkers coming down off the high moors. It’s the village local, handy for the walk up to High Cup Nick, the great glaciated chasm above the Eden valley. A pint and a plate here have revived many a footsore hiker.
