On the market square at Helmsley, the Feathers is a rambling 16th-century coaching inn, now part of a small hotel group, with hearty food and comfortable rooms. It’s a natural base at the western edge of the moors, well placed for the Cleveland Way and a wander round to the castle and Duncombe Park.
