Helmsley Walled Garden is a five-acre kitchen garden of the 1750s, laid out for the estate and tucked below the ramparts of Helmsley Castle. Rescued from dereliction and worked again since the 1990s, it grows heritage fruit and vegetables among hot borders along the old brick walls, with a Victorian vine house at its heart. There’s a café, and it’s a lovely, unhurried spot in Helmsley. Paid entry and seasonal opening, so check before you go.
