Down a wooded dene south of Hexham, the Dipton Mill Inn is a small country pub with a streamside garden and a short menu done well. It’s the tap for the local Hexhamshire Brewery, so the ales are about as fresh as they come. Worth the drive out — Hexham station is around 3km north.
