Simon Rogan’s flagship occupies a 13th-century former smithy in Cartmel, its tasting menus grown and reared on the restaurant’s own nearby farm, with original stone walls and beams framing the cooking. Before or after, there is the lake shore at Fell Foot on Windermere just up the road, or a climb of Staveley Fell into the quiet southern fells.
