The Angel's Peak, a remote high Cairngorm Munro standing right beside Cairn Toul
Open accessin a National Nature Reserve open to the public
Better known in English as the Angel’s Peak, Sgòr an Lochain Uaine is a 1,258m Munro — a Scottish hill over 3,000 feet (914m) — high on the western rim of the Cairngorms. It stands right next to Cairn Toul, barely a kilometre off, and the two are almost always climbed together, a big day deep in the range. The English name pairs it with The Devil’s Point a little to the south. The Gaelic means “peak of the little green lochan”, after the small tarn in the corrie below (a corrie is a bowl bitten into the hillside). It is a genuinely remote summit: by either approach, from Speyside or the Linn of Dee, there is a lot of ground and height to cover.
