A broad, flat-topped Munro deep in the Cairngorms, remote enough that the long walk in is most of the day's work

Deep in the middle of the Cairngorms, Monadh Mòr is a broad, flat-topped Munro — a Scottish hill over 3,000 feet (914m) — reaching 1,113m. The name means roughly “big hill”, and that is the shape of it: rounded, mossy, with none of the drama of the cliffs elsewhere in the range. Reaching it is the real work, a long approach from Glen Feshie or the Linn of Dee, and people usually take in Beinn Bhrotain next door on the same round. The plateau on top has few landmarks, so a map and compass matter in poor visibility.
