Somerleyton’s yew-hedge maze, planted in the 1840s, is the star of its Victorian gardens — laid out with a walled kitchen garden, glasshouses and parterres beside a mansion rebuilt in 1844 for the railway contractor Sir Morton Peto. The estate sits near the Waveney, between Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth. Paid entry, open on set days. Handily, Somerleyton station is barely 2km away.
