Durham University Botanic Garden
On the wooded southern edge of the city, Durham University’s botanic garden spreads over about ten hectares of woodland, lawns, glasshouses and themed beds, with a tropical house and a cactus house among the plantings. It’s a calm green break from the centre, with a visitor centre and café. There’s a small admission charge. A fair walk or short bus from town, with parking on site.
