Ardkinglas holds some of the biggest trees in Britain. Its silver fir, with a trunk over 9 metres round, is reckoned the mightiest conifer in Europe, and a grand fir nearby was for years the tallest tree in the country. The woodland garden above Loch Fyne also has a strong rhododendron collection. You’ll find it on the Ardkinglas Estate at Cairndow, just off the A83.
