Inveraray Jail is a restored Georgian courthouse and prison turned into a living-history museum, with costumed guides, cell blocks and the old airing yards to explore. Kids tend to love the grim bits, and it gives a vivid sense of 19th-century justice. It’s right in the middle of Inveraray, the tidy white town on Loch Fyne, so easy to fold into a visit to the castle and waterfront.
