Auchindrain is an open-air museum built around a real Highland farm township, the sort of communal settlement that once covered the west of Scotland before the Clearances swept most of them away. Thatched houses, barns and byres survive on their old ground, furnished as they’d have been when families still worked the shared land. It’s on the A83 south-west of Inveraray and worth an hour or two if you’re curious how people actually lived here.
