Whitby Brewery works out of a barn right beside the abbey on the East Cliff, with a taproom pouring its own cask beers — a well-earned reward once you’ve climbed the 199 Steps. There’s often live music on and a view over the ruins from the yard. Check the taproom days before you head up, as opening varies with the season.
