Ardnahoe opened in 2019, the first new distillery on Islay in fifteen years, tucked on the island’s north-east coast near Port Askaig. The glass-walled cafe and whisky bar look straight out over the Sound of Islay to the Paps of Jura, which is reason enough to visit even before the drams. There’s a visitor centre with tours; it sits between the Caol Ila and Bunnahabhain distilleries, so you can string a few together.
