Bunnahabhain sits at the end of a single-track road on Islay’s remote north coast, looking across the Sound of Islay to the Paps of Jura. Its malt is the gentle one of the island, lightly peated or not at all, which makes it a good foil to the smokier neighbours. There’s a visitor centre with tours; the drive out alone is worth it for the views. Caol Ila and Ardnahoe are the nearest distilleries along the same coast.
