The Jura Distillery stands at Craighouse, pretty much the hub of this wild, sparsely peopled island — barely 250 people live on the whole of Jura. Getting here is part of the trip: ferry to Islay, then the short crossing of the Sound of Islay from Port Askaig over to Feolin. Tours run at the distillery, and it’s worth booking ahead, as Jura is a long way to come on the off chance.
