Wortham’s round tower is said to be the largest of its kind in England, a squat drum some 29 feet across, dating from the early 12th century or possibly earlier. Its top collapsed in 1789 and it has stood roofless ever since, beside the later medieval church. Open access, in a quiet spot near the Norfolk border; Diss station is about 4km to the east.
