Steeple Ashton lost its steeple in 1670, when lightning brought down a spire that had made this one of the tallest churches in the county. What remains is a magnificent Perpendicular wool church, its aisles and chapels roofed with intricate lierne stone vaulting. Open to visitors; Trowbridge station is about 5km west.
