The prize at Burnham Deepdale is the Norman font: a square block carved around the 12th century with the Labours of the Months, a country task for each month of the year, from scything in high summer to warming by the fire. It’s a small round-towered church on the coast road, open access. Brancaster Staithe and its harbour pubs are just along the road.
