Brancaster Staithe is a working stretch of the north coast, with mussel beds and small fishing boats drawn up by the harbour. Two good pubs sit close by, the Jolly Sailors and the White Horse, the latter looking straight out over the marsh. A seasonal ferry crosses to Scolt Head Island, a shingle-and-dune nature reserve offshore.
