Burial place of Robert the Bruce.
Robert the Bruce is buried here — his tomb lies beneath the pulpit of the 19th-century abbey church, and “King Robert the Bruce” is spelled out in stone letters around the top of the tower. Alongside it stands the great Romanesque nave of the medieval abbey, with its boldly carved drum pillars. The parish church is free to enter; the older ruined parts are looked after by Historic Environment Scotland (admission).
