Cramond Kirk sits on the site of the old Roman fort at Cramond, and there’s been a church on this ground for a very long time — the tower dates from the 15th century, though much of the rest was rebuilt later. Roman remains have been dug up in and around the churchyard. It’s mainly open for services, with other visits by arrangement, and makes a natural stop before heading down to the shore and the causeway to Cramond Island.
