Bowden Kirk is reckoned one of the oldest churches in the Borders, standing on the old pilgrim road below the Eildon Hills. Much altered down the years, it keeps a galleried laird’s loft and a quiet kirkyard, and is still a working parish church. An easy detour from nearby Melrose.
