Thurso Beach curves along the bay in the town itself, but its real fame lies out at Thurso East, where a reef break throws up one of the best waves in Britain. Surfers travel a long way for it, and the town hosts big competitions when the swell’s on — expect wetsuited figures in the water most of the year. The station is right in Thurso, a few minutes’ walk away.
