Dunnet Head, not John o’ Groats, is the most northerly point of mainland Britain. It’s a cliff-and-lochan RSPB reserve with a working lighthouse out at Easter Head, and the cliffs look across the Pentland Firth to Hoy and the Orkney Mainland, about 15km to the north. A minor road climbs up to the car park from Dunnet; from there it’s a short walk to the viewpoint.
