A mobile Finnish-style wood-fired sauna parked by the secluded bay between Dunnet Beach and Castletown harbour

Clach Mara means stone of the sea in Gaelic. The sauna’s main spot is the small bay at the Castletown end of Dunnet Bay, with views to Dunnet Head and Orkney; at high tide you can swim, and otherwise there’s a cold bucket plunge. Caorann, who runs it, opens mostly at weekends and releases dates a few weeks ahead. Communal sessions take up to seven.
