Cwm-yr-Eglwys is a sheltered little cove on the Dinas peninsula, its shingle beach set beside the ruin of a seaside church — only the west wall and bellcote still stand, the rest wrecked by a storm in the 19th century. It’s a gentle spot, popular for swimming when the sea is calm. Newport and its sands lie just to the west.
