Come in summer, when the planting is at full tilt: Dyffryn Fernant is a six-acre private garden in the hills behind Fishguard, made over decades into a run of contrasting planted rooms giving way to wilder, boggy ground and the rock behind. It’s a plantsperson’s garden rather than a grand estate, open on set days for an admission charge. Fishguard Harbour station is about 5km to the north-west.
