The Royal Oak on Fishguard Square served as Lord Cawdor’s headquarters in February 1797, when a French force landed nearby in what became known as the Last Invasion of Britain. The surrender was negotiated here before the French laid down their arms on Goodwick Sands. The pub keeps mementoes of the episode. It’s in the centre of Fishguard, with Fishguard & Goodwick station under 2km away.
