A sheltered stretch of shingle and sand on the shore of Loch Long, with the wooded hills of Argyll Forest Park rising behind it. Ardentinny Beach sits on the Cowal peninsula off the A880, and it’s a calm, family-friendly spot for a paddle or a picnic away from the crowds. Garelochhead station is about 6km away, though you’d need to loop round by road to reach it.
