Lyle Hill rises above Greenock’s west end and gives you one of the best views on the Firth of Clyde, out over Gourock to the Cowal hills. At the top stands the Free French memorial, a Cross of Lorraine combined with an anchor, put up in 1946 to remember French sailors lost in the Second World War. There’s a car park near the summit and only a short walk to the viewpoint. Free.
