Union Mill at Cranbrook is the tallest smock mill in England — a white weatherboarded tower built in 1814 by the millwright James Humphrey. Its name comes from the union of creditors who ran it after the first owner went bankrupt. Restored and Grade I listed, it still grinds flour and opens on some weekends. Staplehurst station is about 8km to the north.
