If you’re heading up to Stickle Tarn from Great Langdale, Stickle Ghyll keeps you company the whole way — a ladder of cascades dropping down the fellside beside the path. It’s one of the busiest routes in the Lakes, rebuilt with stone steps, but it’s still a steep, rocky climb of roughly 500 metres of ascent, with a beck to cross near the top. Pavey Ark rears up behind the tarn at the finish. The New Dungeon Ghyll car park is the usual start.
