Penshurst is a Wealden village at the gates of Penshurst Place, a great medieval house with a 14th-century hall, still lived in by the Sidney family and open in season. The churchyard is reached through the archway of a Tudor house on the green. Penshurst station is about 3km north, at Chiddingstone Causeway.
