The warm white sandstone quarried at Grinshill has raised some of Shrewsbury’s finest buildings — St Chad’s, the town’s bridges, Lord Hill’s Column — and stone has been cut from the hill here since at least the twelfth century. The trim village sits below the wooded quarry hill, now Corbet Wood, laced with walking paths. Yorton station is under 2km away.
