A Grade I landscape of the sublime, laid out through the 18th century by Sir Rowland Hill and his cousin Sir Richard Hill across a range of wooded sandstone cliffs. The circuit takes in a grotto cut into an old copper working, a white-painted tower, a narrow Swiss bridge over a gorge and a scramble up through a cleft ravine. Restored in the early 1990s after long decay; paid entry, and sturdy footwear helps. Prees station is about six kilometres to the north-west.
