Goring sits where the Thames squeezes through the wooded Goring Gap between the Chilterns and the Berkshire Downs, and where the ancient Ridgeway crosses the river by the bridge to Streatley. There’s a lock and weir, riverside walks in both directions, and the Miller of Mansfield for lunch. Goring & Streatley station, on the London–Oxford line, is right in the village.
