Streatley stands at the Goring Gap, where the Thames cuts a wide passage between the chalk of the Chilterns and the Berkshire Downs. Above the village the National Trust slopes of Lardon Chase and Lough Down give a long view over the river. It faces Goring across the water, and the shared Goring & Streatley station is about 1km east.
