On the east side of Kintyre, Carradale is a fishing and holiday village above a fine sweep of sandy bay that looks straight across to Arran. There’s still a small harbour, a shop and a hotel, plus forest walks behind the village and a headland fort to poke about. Carradale Bay itself is the main draw for a swim or a stroll. Reach it on the winding B842 down the coast.
