The south portal of Blisworth Tunnel opens just beyond the village. At about 3,075 yards it’s the longest wide, freely navigable canal tunnel in Britain, carrying the Grand Union under the hill toward Stoke Bruerne at the far end. Blisworth itself is built largely of its own honey-grey stone. There’s no towpath through the tunnel, but the approaches at either mouth make a good short canal walk. Northampton station is about 7km north.
