A former wool town on the road between Lavenham and Hadleigh, Bildeston keeps a cluster of Tudor houses around its small market square. The 15th-century Bildeston Crown, once a coaching inn, still trades on one corner as a well-regarded dining pub. Stowmarket is the nearest station, roughly 11km north-east.
