John Constable painted this tower repeatedly — a tall wool-church tower of stone and flint riding the ridge above the Stour valley. It stands over Stoke-by-Nayland, a village of timber-framed houses on the edge of Dedham Vale, and is open to visitors. Bures station is about 9km to the west.
