Come to Benllech for the beach: a wide arc of pale sand on Anglesey’s east coast, backed by low cliffs, with a Blue Flag and lifeguards through the summer. The tide goes a long way out, leaving firm sand and rock pools to poke about in. It’s the busiest of the east-coast resorts, with shops and cafes set above the shore. Llanfairpwll is the nearest station on the main line, about 11km south.
