Bag Enderby is Tennyson country. The poet’s father, George Clayton Tennyson, was rector here and at neighbouring Somersby, where Alfred was born, holding both livings until his death in 1831. The little church of St Margaret, built of green Spilsby sandstone around 1407, still stands among a scatter of houses in the quiet folds of the southern Wolds.
