Aberdour sits on the south Fife coast, about half an hour from Edinburgh by train. There’s a 12th-century castle to look round and, a short walk east, the Blue Flag Silver Sands beach — a gorgeous curve of pale sand that gives the place its name. The station is right in the village, so you can be off the train and onto the sand in minutes.
