Approximate location — this spot is pinned to the nearest village, so the exact point may be a little way off.

The Sedgwick Geological Trail is a short waymarked walk near Dent that follows the line of the Dent Fault, where two very different sets of rock meet head-on. It’s named for Adam Sedgwick, the pioneering geologist born in Dent, who did much to unpick the region’s ancient strata. The trail starts from a lay-by in Garsdale and is free and fairly gentle, though the path can be muddy. Dent station is a good way off, about 11km south-east.
