A narrow fell road climbs out of the quiet Newlands valley, past Little Town, and over to Buttermere. Near the top it runs right beside Moss Force, a waterfall that tumbles down the crag beside the tarmac and is loud and impressive after rain. The road is steep, single-track and gated in places, so it’s slow going — but a lovely back way between the two valleys if you’re not in a hurry.
