The Mermaid of the North is a bronze sculpture sitting on a rock on the shore at Balintore, one of the Seaboard villages and part of their sculpture trail. She’s best seen at lower tides — the sea can reach her rock when the water’s high — so time a visit for the ebb. Fearn is the nearest station, about 6km to the north-west.
