Tidal estuary and rail bridge beneath Cadair Idris.
The Mawddach opens into a wide tidal estuary of sand and saltmarsh between Dolgellau and Barmouth, with Cadair Idris rising along the south side. The flat Mawddach Trail follows the old railway line the length of it, good for walking and cycling, and finishes across the wooden Barmouth Bridge. Morfa Mawddach station sits right on the estuary.
